Gatlinburg’s New Farmer’s Market

This Saturday, May 22nd, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8 am.  In addition to great local foods and products, there will be demonstations by local craftsmen and chefs, as well as free raffles with prices from NOC’s Great Outpost and A Walk in the Woods.  Local musicians, Ruth Barber and Keith Watson of Boogertown Gap, will performing old-time Mountain music throughout the morning.Boogertown Gap

The Farmer’s Market will be located 705 East Parkway (Rt. 321 – Alamo Steakhouse parking lot).  It will be open each Saturday from May 22nd through November 20th, from 8 am until 11:30 am. 

 The Mission of the Farmer’s Market is to “promote and provide local foods and goods for healthy mountain living, while providing a supportive gathering ground for both the local citizenry and the visitors to our area.”  Fresh Flowers!Hopefully Gatlinburg’s new Farmer’s Market will reduce the food miles between field and table, while at the same time educating the public and enhancing the quality of life in the Gatlinburg area with this family friendly activity!

Become a Vendor!

Ever thought of becoming a vendor?  If you live nearby, the Market is looking for vendors selling everything from locally raised produce, fruits, and flowers toFresh Produce! baked goods, jellies, and natural health and wellness products.  It is $40 to be a full season vendor (May 22nd through November 20th – 28 Saturdays).  If you just want to try it out before committing to a whole season, you can be a monthly vendor for $15, or just one Saturday for $5.  Applications are due at least 2 weeks before you plan to start selling.  For more Information about becoming a vendor, see the Gatlinburg Farmer’s Market Rules of Operation or contact the Farmer’s Market.

I am really looking forward to visiting the Gatlinburg Farmer’s Market!  It will be nice to have a place to buy fresh, locally grown produce. Other farmer’s markets I have been to have a great family-friendly atmosphere and really bring people together!  I am sure Gatlinburg’s will be just as welcoming.  See you there!
