Dollywood has been closed for the last couple months for the slow season, and I have been anxiously awaiting its reopening. It’s finally opening again on March 26th! My husband and I got season passes last year that would let us into both Dollywood and Splash Country, allow us unlimited parking and 10% off purchases. We enjoyed it so much, and it was well worth it for the price! This year there are several new things to enjoy!
Dollywood opens its season with the Festival of Nations! Returning this year is the extremely popular show Drum!, which I thoroughly enjoyed, as well as some other favorites. New this year is Samaia: Legend of the Caucasus, “Sword battles and ballet meet alongside traditional dance, drumming, songs and chant in this breathtaking production featuring more than 40 dancers and singers from the Georgian Caucasus.”
The Barnstormer- “Take to the sky high above Dollywood [this] season with the new Barnstormer family thrill ride!
Enjoy the same breathtaking moments that daring stunt pilots of the 1920s might have experienced as they zoomed over the fields of nearby farms. The $5.5 million Barnstormer features two pendulum arms with seating for 32 riders.
Seated back to back, riders travel progressively higher on each swing of the Barnstormer’s massive arms, reaching a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour and 230 degrees of rotation. At its peak, the Barnstormer reaches a staggering 81 feet in the air!
Located adjacent to the Mountain Slidewinder, the Barnstormer rests amid a big, red barn, creating a huge, barnyard-themed area which includes a 22-foot by 16-foot bi-plane play area as well as a pig pen water play area for children.”
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs- “The entire family will enjoy this incredible 4D experience that includes a spaghetti tornado, an ice cream storm and a cheeseburger downpour! It’s the most delicious event since macaroni met cheese!” I love this movie and cannot wait to experience it in 4D!
