When the Ball Drops the Fun Starts!

fwThe Smokies Mountain region has two cities that plan to welcome the year of 2014 in a big way. So when the ball drops, the fun will start!

In the heart of Gatlinburg guests and locals will take to the city streets, as they anxiously wait to ring in the New Year. They will enjoy festive music and entertainment as they dance their way to the year 2014. The Ball Drop will hit at the stroke of midnight. The skyline will then be set ablaze with a streaming fireworks display.

New Year’s Eve at Blaine’s means you will be in the middle of all the excitement and anticipation that a New Year brings. Located in the heart of Gatlinburg next to the Space Needle, Blaine’s Bar & Grill offers a splendid seated view. They are offering four packages, so you can celebrate in way that best fits you. Those who have a Premier Dining, Sports Bar, and Dance Floor package can enter at 7:30 PM (for drinks only until 7:45 PM). Dinner will then begin at 7:45 PM. Jimmy's_resturantIf you are looking to celebrate the New Year in a smaller quaint setting, then you can ring it in at Three Jimmy’s. A restaurant nestled in East Gatlinburg near the Arts & Crafts Community. You can join them and The Blair Experience for their New Years Eve Party! Enjoy a tasteful platter of smoked prime rib or champagne chicken, be seated in the dining area, be supplied with party favors and a toast the night off for $40.00 per person. You also have the option of the Café or banquet room with dinner, party favors and a champagne toast for $35.00 per person. If you just want to be in an inviting environment, toast the night off and enjoy live entertainment it will be $15.00 per person.


The Island at Pigeon Forge will be celebrating with their first ball drop. It will be followed by a dynamic fireworks display. Guest can enjoy an array of activities that will begin at 8:00 PM. Entertainment will be provided by Fairview Union and a DJ will also be present in the Plaza. Those who attend will be dazzled with the debut display of the Island Fountains. It will be the perfect setting for a family event.


If your looking for VIP treatment Timberwood Grill is hosting an all-inclusive VIP party featuring a DJ, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and drinks from 8:00 PM to Midnight. Wristbands for the event will be $75.00 and can be purchased in advance and on the day of the event at Timberwood Grill. Patrons must be 21 or older to consume alcohol.


If you want to ring in the New Year with a view, reserve your very own Gondola for a midnight ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel. Your view will be topped off with a bottle of Champagne, as you taken in the fireworks that light up the Pigeon Forge sky!

  • The cost per Gondola is $99.00 (seats up to 6 adults) includes: 1 bottle of Champagne – complementary treats –  and an extended ride time
  • VIP Gondola Cost: $300.00 (seats up to 4 adults) includes: 1 bottle of Champagne – complementary treats – and an extended ride time
  • Private Gondola rides can be purchased in advance or on the day of the event at the Ticket Center. Riders must be 21 or older to consume alcohol.
