Our favorite groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, says we are going to have another 6 weeks of winter. And here in Gatlinburg, that is easy to believe. So as a way to fight off the winter blues, we thought we would remind you (and ourselves) of all the great things to do in the Smoky Mountains during the winter.

GATLINBURG: Winter Activities

The winter crowds in the Smokies are smaller–making traffic and shopping far more leisurely. The winters are mild by Northern standards but far snowier than those experienced just a little south of the Smokies. With the start of Fall just behind us, I am already looking forward to the start of the season (December 21st) full of sweaters and hot chocolate–with a little sledding in between. Here are some of our favorite winter activities.
